Michael Scott Moore was held in Captivity in North Central Somalia for almost three years |
American journalist Michael Scott Moore has been freed in Northern Somalia on Tuesday after nearly three years of being held captive, reports confirm.
He was kidnapped by a group of Somali pirate gangs in January 2012 after landing in Galkayo town, located in North-central part of the country, where he had went to do a research about piracy.
The Pirates demanded a ransom of $20 million for his release. Negotiations between the gangs and local administration of Galmudug failed several times.
Unconfirmed reports claim that the Journalist has been released on a ransom which the amount hasn’t been affirmed.
Mr Moore boarded a special plane from the Galkayo airport en route to unidentified destination.
