March 5, 2015.
I aimed for this brief editorial, after I
read individuals who wrote at the online media and also others who talk on the
streets on Puntland’s current regime negatively, as a result I felt a
generational responsibility to look at it differently.
Puntland is interconnected economically,
socially and politically in regional interests and tribal backed philosophy
from the corner of Ayn region in the west, neared to Mudug region, Nugal and
Karkaar in between; to Bari, Sanag and highland regions of the other corner,
despite the Sol region that is still under the control of Somaliland’s
administration since 2007.
Straightforwardly speaking, I become
dumbfounded when I hear individuals and read stories on my state at some
privately owned Somali websites in Somalia and in other countries affronting
the Puntland’s current administration in personal and entity attacks, for
instance, H.E Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, his deputy; Mr. Abdihakim Omar Amey and some
of his council of ministries are still remain at their front pages and mouths;
no exclusion, I ask myself why?!!.
On January 8, 2014, the like-minded friends
and I welcomed and supported Dr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali as the new president of
Puntland for his five years term in office, because of his technical skills,
knowledge and experience in the economy, leadership and management, who served
as the prime minister of Somalia from June 2011-to-October, 2012 and Up to date
as Puntland’s president; during this shortly period in Somalia’s politics, He
credited an amazing task to the nation at large, but not in tribal lines and
other trivial issues you might think of.
Logically, Leadership and administration
starts from a agreed time and ends to a given time, let us as Puntland’s
citizens give our president, H. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali and his team space, to
secure our economy, re-structure our people’s living conditions and direct our
state forward politically for us to contend with the Somalia’s existing federal
states, the budding states in Somalia and the rest of the world, because the
current administration is almost one year down the road.
As long as I knew, our previous governments
were restricted when it comes to ‘freedom expression’ as I write, freedom
expression is exercised willingly by our people in Puntland, but this doesn’t
mean we pin-point our administration’s negatives, whereas it is true Puntland
has regional and global problems and enemies, in the mean time there are
positive things you might talk about, there must be limitations: Puntland Is
Our Own and home- where our fore fathers and mothers live, it is not for
Abdiweli, or Farole, or any other who is willing to take this post as Puntland’s
president in Future, in other words, if
something goes wrong because of our hands, remember the mass suffers the most.
Likely, it is fine and good, if certain
person ropes the current regime, or the proceeded regimes of ours, but remaining
accountable and responsible towards our state by putting our personal analysis
in proper manner is what matters.
Very strappingly, I do believe we can’t hit
our developmental targets when we always talk on the leader’s negative phase, I
know our people in Puntland are intelligent enough, very cultural and peace
loving people, and we must ignore the propaganda of the few who serve the
interest for the few; not for us as Puntlanders.
In
conclusion, reaching somewhere desirable, it takes years of trying, cutting
thousands of miles, anyway let us give du’a to our president and aid him in the
process of re-building our state, now on my behalf and on behalf of the
puntland people, we want you technical skills and the change you always call
for to be seen on the ground, I know you are a leader of your own world; God
bless Puntland God bless Somalia.
