36 people killed in another Mandera attack

36 people have been killed and several others injured in yet another attack by Al Shabaab militants in Mandera this morning.

Police and the Kenya Red Cross have confirmed the attack that occurred at a quarry in Koromey area, about 15 kilometers from Mandera town.

“36 people are feared dead, our team is on the ground undertaking assessment of the attack,” the Kenya Red Cross said.

Reports indicate that those killed are quarry workers who were ambushed by heavily armed militants at dawn.

There are reports that some of the workers were kidnapped by the attackers in the incident that comes barely a week after the deadly bus attack in which 28 people were killed.
