SOMALIA: At least ten dies after two clan militia battled in Hiran region




At least ten people have died and more than that number wounded in gun battle between two rifted local clans in central Somali region, Hiram region administration confirms.
Thursday early morning, two local clan militias have engaged in gun fire confrontations in Defow village, 35Km to Baladwayne, the provincial capital of Hiran region.
Meanwhile 16 wounded people were admitted to Baladwayne general hospital while some have sustained critical injuries, Hiran Health authorities say.
The battle broke out after the two battling clan militias fought before and no successful reconciliation negotiations have been recorded to bring the hostilities to an end. It is becoming the second time these two local clan militias have engaged in direct gun battles leaving dozens dead.
Traditional community elders have reached the scene while the two clan militias are in defense from one another.
