Garbahaarey :Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has paid today sudden visit to Garbaharey town, the capital of Somalia’s southwest region of Gedo.
According to president’s pres office, the visit was aimed to observe the situation in the region and to hold meetings with the local officials and elders in order to discuss with them numerous issues including security, livelihood and governance.
The President and his delegation landed at Garbaharey airport where they were welcomed by local security officials and elders in the town.
The region’s top officials are not currently in the town, while sources said the President did not inform his visit to the governor of Gedo and his deputies.
Anyhow, President Mohamud’s visit to Gedo region comes ahead of his trip to the U.S. next week to attend the International U.S. and Africa Summit.
