SOMALIA: Military court executes three men convicted as Al Shabab members

Mogadishu: Somalia’s military court on Sunday executed three men convicted as members of the Al Qaeda-linked militant group Al Shabab and that they have assassinated government officials.


Early morning n Sunday, a firing squad of Somalia National Army lined up and executed the three men who were each blindfolded and tied up on a stake.
Among the three men executed were; Hassan Muhyadin 29, who was arrested on July 8th shortly after he attempted to escape from an attack on Villa Somalia, the country’s Presidential Palace.  He was sentenced to death last week after he was convicted as the facilitator of Al Shabab’s deadly attack on the Presidency.
Mr Muhyadin’s father who has worked in Villa Somalia for almost two years is now under custody and is being under investigation for his role of not informing the security forces the involvement of his son to terrorist group.
Adam Mohamed 22, and Bashir Mohamed 28 were both arrested three weeks ago for assassinating a young accountant working for the ministry of finance during the Ramadan month in Wadajir district.  According to the military court, the pair were part of Al Shabab’s Amniyat group who is responsible for assassinating government officials in Mogadishu.
Officials of the High Court of the Military and Mogadishu Municipality officers witnessed at the execution of he three men which was carried at the Police Academy.
The Sunday’s execution against Al Shabab convicted men is the third one within two months in Mogadishu.  In July, the military court of Somalia executed six men alleged to be Al Shabab members who assassinated government officials and members of the Parliament.
