Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali fired on Thursday provincial Governor and appointed a new one.
In a decree from the President Office, Mr Abdiqani Hashi Ali was named as the new Governor of Nugal and will be taking over office from the former Governor Mr Abdi Hersi Ali. Its not yet clear the reason why he was sacked nor explained in the decree.
Abdi Hersi Qarjab, Former Nugal Governor
Abdi Hersi who is well known as Qarjab, was in Office for more than six years. He was a close ally to the Ex-president Abdirahman Farole.
The move has been interpreted as a step by the semi-autonomous region’s president to fulfill one of his promises during his campaign and after winning the Presidential elections in January, which was to implement good governance and fight against corruption.
Elsewhere, Puntland leader appointed a new Police commissioner for Bari region and sacked former Comissioner Osman Afdalow, Sources confirmed to the media.
