SOMALIA: President Mohamud travels to Rwanda from Kenya while thousand Somalis detained in Nairobi

2
Somalia’s Presiudent Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has wrapped up his visit to Nairobi, Kenya and departed to Rwanda’s capital, Kigali to attend the memorial of the 20-yrs anniversary of Rwanda genocide.
During his two-day visit to Nairobi, President Mohamud met with his Kenyan counterpart, President Uhuru Kenyatta and held discussions on the ongoing operation against Somali citizens in Kenya in which the Kenyan police arrested more than 1,000 Somalis from the suburbs of Nairobi in the past two days.
The police continue to detain ethnic Somalis living in Nairobi suburbs, storming and raiding houses and business place while not taking care of those with valid identification cards or passports even the Somalis from Europe and USA.
While the Kenyan police are ruthlessly keeping more than 1,000 Somalis including women and children in Kasarani Football Stadium for the third day, the troubled people were expecting the president would at least visit the two detention places before he wraps up his tour to Kenya.
Unfortunately, President Mohamud flew to Rwanda late on Sunday and the people were disappointed when hearing this news.  But officials in the presidency say the president met with the local Somali community in Nairobi an expressed his feeling about the matter.
On Sunday Somalia Ambassador to Kenya Mohamed Ali Nur said the government will be working to evacuate its people from Kenya because there was no other alternative.
